R-02997 Requisition #

Job Purpose

The Director of Sales and Relationship Management represents the NYSE equities and options businesses to NYSE constituents in an effort to compete for transactional market share, articulate the Exchange’s positions on critical and complex market structure topics and to partner with our clients to achieve the maximum business potential from the relationship. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with exchange members (including traditional sell-side dealers, retail brokers, and proprietary trading firms) and also with buy-side institutions.

  • Interacting daily, both in person and remotely, with an assigned group of clients to ensure that our commercial positions and offerings are clearly understood and are being incorporated by clients to the maximum extent possible.
  • Proactively and continually developing relationships with clients is a core responsibility. Soliciting client feedback and developing a partnership mentality with clients is critical to this process.
  • Communicating exchange pricing and functionality changes, venue quality information and NYSE’s market structure positions to clients.
  • Analyzing client activity and industry data to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the competitive landscape is required.
  • Supporting the group’s sales efforts by using and administering internal software to manage client data and track internal metrics (CRM, volume tracking reports, organizational charts, etc).
  • Accurately and effectively communicating in team meetings and to executive management.
  • Partnering with internal colleagues (market data, strategy, technology, futures, ETF’s) and advancing NYSE’s agenda across businesses is also a core responsibility.

Knowledge and Experience
  • An understanding of either equity or options market structure is critically important.  Experience with both asset classes is a plus.
  • Intellectually curious self-starter.  Winning mentality and proven track record of growing business through proactive client outreach to source opportunity and report back to business management.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues and NYSE’s stance on the same is necessary.
  • Ability to judge the appropriate way to communicate business propositions to a wide range of audiences.
  • Familiarity with our clients’ varied business models is key to executing the position successfully.
  • Proven ability in developing client relationships.  An existing network of contacts within the sell-side and buy-side community is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional poise, judgment and a willingness to constantly maintain an educated perspective on the marketplace.
