Job Purpose
The Lead Database Developer (DBA) will be part of a global team that analyzes, designs, implements and supports a series of applications for the ICE Clearing Risk System.  The selected candidate will be responsible for ongoing software development for a business line, interfacing with users and management in the planning of major functionality, analyzing business functional requirements to determine the scope of work, evaluating available application alternatives to support business needs, and managing resource planning/constraints.  Success in role requires discretion and independent judgment on a daily basis.

  

Responsibilities

  • Use and review PL/SQL or SQL development to solve business problems.
  • Conduct database administrative work to support for production systems.
  • Design, architect, plan database solutions to meet the business need.
  • Work with business analysts in understanding new requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize database systems and applications.
  • Provide support for QA and Development systems.
  • Follow company software development processes and standards.
  • Mentor other team members and lead cross-functional efforts with other teams.
  • Assist PM's in creating schedules and ensuring developers assigned to them follow the schedule and processes.
  • Ability to drive ongoing and new initiatives and move projects to completion with little supervision.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • Work experience consisting of 80% PL/SQL development work and 20% Database Administration work
  • 8+ years of experience developing database applications in PL/SQL-Triggers, Packages, Functions, Procedures, Complex SQL, Oracle Collection and Object Types
  • Oracle 12c experience
  • Must have work experience working in Unix/Linux environment (RAC experience is a plus)
  • Shell or Perl experience is preferred
  • SQL Query tuning using different tools with clear understanding of query plan management
  • Experience with partition management and parallel processing
  • Familiar with job scheduling tool and technique
  • Excellent problem solving, issue identification, analytical and technical documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Understand SDLC process and tools, agile program management concepts and version control
