Manager, Release Engineering

Job Purpose

Working with our technology development teams, and by extension, with most elements of the company, this role ensures nothing stands in the way of consistently delivering the most valuable things. The Manager, Release Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers to work together to provide exceptional customer service through the entire SDLC, enabling them to provide outstanding first line support coverage.  In summary, this role acts as a roadblock remover, juggler, negotiator, and cultural ambassador.

  • Lead others to work effectively in a strong customer service/team-oriented environment
  • Provide communication during releases and escalate issues to appropriate teams for resolution
  • Develop, maintain, improve, and enforce release engineering standards
  • Communicate release engineering processes information and changes as appropriate
  • Oversee capacity planning, deployment and performance management of key systems
  • Build a team of engineers to manage large Development and QA SDLC processes globally
  • Lead release engineering in a continuous integration/delivery environment
  • Dive into issues and drive root cause
  • Assist with administration of our SDLC tools
  • Resolve conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making competencies
  • Delegate authority for planning, directing, coordinating, administering, and executing both routine and complex technical elements of technical operations
  • 24/7 support for development/production issues

Knowledge and Experience
  • 5+ years of Release Engineering or related experience with gradually increasing responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of Release Engineering and technical quality control processes, artifacts and tools
  • Ability to drive to big-picture goals and achieve milestones with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability for delivering high-quality work, both personally and as a team
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and operational resources
  • Exceptional technical / non-technical verbal and written skills
  • Experience working with multiple Development and QA teams on different deliverables
  • 7+ years of experience with any of the following technologies:
          • Linux or Windows administration
          • Maven/Gradle
          • GIT
          • Jenkins Administration, provisioning access
          • Scripting languages like Bash, Ruby, Groovy, PowerShell scripting, Python
          • Understand Continuous Integration and Delivery concepts
          • SQL and web development
          • Windows Technologies such as Nuget, Windows DSC
