Job Purpose

We require a QA Engineer, ideally with experience working in a financial services environment. The QA Engineer will be responsible for testing a Credit Default Swaps pricing platform (within the OTC derivatives space). The platform manages high volumes of fixed income data, and is scalable to handle growth in data volumes in the near future. The Engineer will be required to be involved in early stages of all projects/releases, create test plans, automate tests, execute tests, and work closely with all stakeholders.  The Engineer is expected to be diligent and effective in assessing impact/risk and produce plans to address those risks.


The project offers many challenges and has high demands on QA Engineers. The end users of the platform are sensitive to the Credit Derivative analytics and prices that we provide to them. They expect data to be of the highest quality, hence there is very little tolerance for defects.


The candidate is expected to continually review test processes and add improvements. They should always be looking out for bottlenecks in the process and delivering improvements. They should be eager to learn and grow within the role. The candidate should also be comfortable with testing back-end components in Windows and SQL Server. Strong SQL knowledge and the ability to write and understand complicated SQL procedures is ideal. 


Candidates must be capable of reviewing software applications objectively, work with Business Analysts and End-Users to understand requirements and Developers to understand the impact of changes to assist debugging and enhancing CMA applications. The candidate must have exceptional communication and negotiation skills as they will be required to work directly with Product Management and Development personnel on a regular basis.


The candidate must be well versed in Software QA concepts, practices and tools and will rely on their extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The candidate must understand test automation tools, techniques and best practices and be capable of working with a test automation team. The candidate must be capable of presenting regular progress reports, defect reports and test execution reports.

  • Candidate should relentlessly improve testing processes
Knowledge and Experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, an ability to multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Has a desire to do automation testing and learn scripting languages (e.g. UFT, PLSQL, Python, PowerShell, etc…)
  • Strong SQL scripting
  • Ideally has some experience of writing and executing QTP/UFT scripts
  • Strong understanding of Relational Database Systems (Sql Server)
  • Experience working in a Windows services operating environment
  • Comfortable working with and testing backend technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with code version systems like Git
  • Experience in the Financial Industry is preferred
  • Experience with mainstream defect tracking tools (implementing or administering such tools is preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, an ability to multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities
  • Experience in the field of Software Quality Assurance and writing automation scripts
Desired Additional Requirements
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and tools like TeamCity, Jenkins
List of PREFERRED degree(s), license(s), and/or certification(s):
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or equivalent
