Security Supervisor

Job Purpose

This is an armed position responsible for overseeing the supervision of contract security officers and contract security vendor(s).  This position will cover flexible shifts.      The Supervisor is accountable for all physical security operations during the tour assigned.  In addition, this position ensures proper functionality of various security apparatus (including but not limited to x-ray machines, magnetometers, vehicle interdiction devices, fencing, cameras and card access system).


Communication of daily operational directives, verification of authority to enter the property, compliance with site rules, overseeing co-location customers (as it relates to physical security) and oversight of the contract security staff are core responsibilities in furtherance of the essential corporate mission.  This person must maintain solid relationships other business units, with all first responder agencies and must be able to react and direct staff to perform, with little or no supervision, to perceived and direct security threats.


Security Operations

Manage the Security Command Center operations which include overseeing contract security staff, insuring that all aspects of the division’s operations are performed as prescribed.  These functions encompass directing response to suspicious incidents, alarm activations (i.e. fire system alarms, environmental alarms and access control alarms), and initiating immediate action to mitigate and ensure the safety of the employees and facility.  Direct supervision of up to ten (10) Contract Security Officers.


Perform essential administrative functions such as scheduling shift coverage, recording one’s time and attendance records, properly recording access to the data center in designated software, processing various personnel for background checks, producing access credentials and composing incident reports, as required.

Emergency Management

Responsible for the deployment of security personnel and coordination with law enforcement and emergency responding units during emergency situations including but not limited to; terrorist related incidents, fires, water leaks, flood conditions, bomb threats, medical emergencies, etc.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Ten (10) or more years as a sworn law enforcement officer
  • Must be able to lawfully carry a firearm in the State of New Jersey
  • Additional requirements and certifications include: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Knowledge of the following systems: CCTV, DVR, radio communication, card access control, facilities monitoring systems, and fire alarm systems
  • Proficient in the use of a PC including the following software and applications; Microsoft Office (Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel), and Corporate specific applications used to record and balance expenses, time and labor, and prepare incident reports, as well as producing and updating corporate access system records.  The successful applicant will also have familiarity with video monitoring and card access systems
  • Must be able to react and perform with little or no supervision, particularly during the off-shift hours.   Must have the ability to detect and take action to resolve minor security system problems and/or provide for the appropriate resolution
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and functions simultaneously, and under pressure. This is especially true during emergencies when the individual may be the focal point of information management and distribution
  • Must also be able to successfully interact with all levels of the ICE community (Shareholders, Board Members, employees, vendors, guests, contract staff, Data Center Operations and Date Center Engineering personnel and facilities engineering personnel) as well as external personnel (co-location customers, potential customers, high profile persons, law enforcement, local, state, and federal agencies)
  • Excellent writing skills are essential. Reports and written communications need to be clear and concise in view of the fact that such correspondence may be disseminated to a wide variety of personnel
  • Flexibility to work all shifts is critical to the assignment, and to occasionally fill in for colleagues on other shifts who may not be able to work their assigned shift
