Job Purpose

The Systems Engineering and Architecture team at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is a cross-discipline team that takes a system view on solution development. This team participates in the definition of high-level functional and non-functional requirements, analyzes technical trade-offs, decomposes major components and subsystems, and helps define the interfaces, collaborations, and dependencies between them.

The role of a Systems Architect is to support and strengthen that cycle, working with members of the engineering and development teams, operations team, and company leadership to ensure that ICE continues to delivery on objectives. From applied research to advanced engineering, the Systems Architecture team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking products, material, and processes. The architects lead technology investigations, analyze industry capabilities, and recommends solutions based on what they learn. Our insights influence product architecture and definitions. In cooperation with leadership, the Systems Architecture team plays a critical role to align teams in a common technical direction toward a strategic vision and roadmap for ICE.

Responsibilities
  • Provide architecture and best practice leadership related to the implementation of Cybersecurity
  • Develop and define security standards
  • Responsible for alignment of perimeter security architecture and design standards with business strategy, service delivery, and client and vendor relationships
  • Focus on protecting infrastructure, data, endpoint, IAM, threats & vulnerability across the ICE technology and business platform
  • Apply advanced knowledge of the business and IT architecture principles to identify and evaluate alternatives solutions
  • Help identify gaps in current enterprise security guidance
  • Review security plans, processes, and strategies to identify areas for improvement or update
  • Create/update Enterprise Security Architecture Guidance in the form of Design Patterns, Standards, and Implementation Guides
  • Create diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology with security measures and vulnerabilities
  • Develop Enterprise Security Architecture Metrics
  • Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks
  • Design and implement safety measures and data recovery plans
  • Serve as a security architecture expert
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to develop and deliver complete security architecture solutions
  • Provide governance recommendations for all existing cloud services and methodologies for testing and certifying new cloud services
  • Assure that all logging and monitoring concerns are well understood and implemented according to regulations
Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Extensive background in designing security architectures for global enterprises
  • Experience designing and implementing an Enterprise Security Architecture process and methodology
  • Experience in establishing and enforcing standards and practices
  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways
  • Knowledgeable of architecture frameworks
  • Has experience in developing enterprise security design patterns, standards, and guidelines
  • 7+ years in information security with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Strong familiarity with networking, virtualization and general IT systems
  • Broad knowledge of core information security principles (e.g. access control, least privilege, data integrity) and security capabilities
  • Programming/Scripting Languages: Python, Perl, PowerShell
  • Knowledge of a product technology and system level integration
  • Knowledge of engineering methods in a field of specialty (Systems, Storage, Security, Network, Cloud)
  • Previous experience in domains of identity, authentication, and information security
  • Industry certification preferred (CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CCSP, Cloud provider certifications)
  • Technical certifications are not required but considered an asset are: CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GPEN, GCFE, CCNA, CCNP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct presentations to peers, cross- functional teams and director level of leadership
  • Understanding/Knowledge of global frameworks and standards like NIST, CIS, etc.
